Battlefield 5 Open Beta: Start Dates, Pre-Loading And Early Access Details

Battlefield V beta will be available in the first week of September to all players, a Nvidia executive revealed Monday at Gamescom 2018, during the launch of the company’s new lineup of graphics cards, GeForce RTX 20 series. On stage in Cologne, Germany, Nvidia CEO and President Jensen Huang announced that the Battlefield V open beta will kick off early access on Tuesday, September 4. Everyone else can get on the beta starting Thursday, September 6.

EA DICE recently dropped a new trailer for Battlefield V ahead of Gamescom 2018. The trailer, called Devastation of Rotterdam, shows an amalgam of cutscenes and gameplay footage. Toward the end of the trailer, we get a potential tease of Battlefield V's new Battle Royale mode, which was announced during E3 2018. We expect to see more Battlefield V footage during Gamescom and hopefully learn more about this new Battle Royale mode. Nvidia also partnered with EA DICE and used Battlefield V to showcase the newly-announced RTX video cards.

Those who pre-order Battlefield V will not only get early access to the open beta but will also be able to play the full game three days ahead of its release, on October 16. Origin Access Premier members on PC can play the full game on October 11, while Origin Access Basic members on PC and EA Access members on Xbox One get access to the Play First Trial on the same day. Battlefield V will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 19, 2018.

How do I get into the Battlefield 5 open beta?

If you want to play starting on September 6, all you'll need to do is go to your system's download store (Origin for PC players), find the beta, and download it. If you want to play earlier than that, you'll need to pre-order the game from a participating retailer or subscribe to EA Access on Xbox or Origin Access on PC.

What will the Battlefield 5 open beta include?

The contents of the Battlefield 5 open beta will give players a limited look at the breadth of the full game. There are three main ways you can play:

64-player Conquest mode on the Rotterdam or Arctic Fjord (Narvik, Norway) maps
A limited preview of Grand Operations, showcasing the first two "days" of Airborne and Breakthrough modes
A five-part Tides of War chapter titled "Shock Troops"
Those are all pretty self explanatory except for the last one, as EA is still keeping many of the details for how Tides of War will work under wraps - saying that each chapter will "focus on an aspect of the era, with unique gameplay experiences to drive players forward." We do know that completing this chapter in the beta will carry its own rewards, though...

Will the Battlefield 5 open beta unlock anything in the full game?

Yes, if you complete all five parts of the beta's Tides of War chapter, you'll get an exclusive Dog Tag that you can take with you into the full game. There may be other rewards too, but that's the only one EA has confirmed so far.
